Our Multi-cultural Mother Mary

Virgin of Guadalupe is considered the patron saint of Mexico. Also known as the brown-skinned virgin, she is depicted with brown skin, an angel and moon at her feet and rays of sunlight that encircle her.

Our Mother of Perpetual Help was designated as the national Patroness of the Republic of Haiti and Almoradi, Spain. To this day, the Church of St. Alphonsus displays the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and welcomes pilgrims for prayer.

Our Lady of Sorrows, also known as Mater Dolorosa or Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, centers around the profound suffering and sorrow experienced by the Virgin Mary during the life, crucifixion, and death of her son, Jesus Christ.

She then addresses John in these terms: “I am the Virgin Mary. Go and tell the clergy and the consuls of Cotignac to build me a church here, under the name of Our Lady of Graces and that they come in procession to receive the gifts that I want to spread there.”

The message of Our Lady of Fatima emphasized prayer, repentance, and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The apparitions culminated in as the Miracle of the Sun on October 13, 1917, witnessed by thousands of people.

Our Lady of Lourdes represents the healing power of faith. February 11 is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. Bernadette was made a Saint by Pope Pius XI in 1933. and February 18 is the feast day of Saint Bernadette.

Many people make the pilgrimage to the chapel of Seitai Hoshikai, called Our Lady of Akita, since the apparitions began. The chapel was done in a Japanese "irimoya-juso-style" architecture which was built by Japanese temple building carpenters from Takasaki City.
